A RETIRED West Lothian sales and marketing consultant, whose expertise, mentoring and inspiration has helped many young entrepreneurs fulfil their self employment ambitions, is one of four finalists shortlisted for the coveted title of ‘Volunteer of the Year’ at The Prince’s Scottish Youth Business Trust (PSYBT) business awards being held in Glasgow on the 16 November 2010.
Detlef Lorenz joined the West Lothian PSYBT team in 2003 and has been nominated for his commitment towards helping young entrepreneurs sustain their business and offering them crucial advice during the first few years in operation.
Mr Lorenz is well respected by his clients and colleagues in West Lothian and is extremely supportive to new volunteers and a valuable member of the region’s ‘Volunteer Buddy System’ and PSYBT panel team.
Mark Strudwick, PSYBT chief executive, said: “Thanks to our regional finalists, who are dedicated volunteers, and our exceptional network of aftercare advisers and panel members, we are able to help thousands of young people succeed in business. These awards therefore are a celebration of all our volunteers’ outstanding efforts.”
At the awards ceremony in November, the leading youth charity will also reveal the ‘PSYBT Young Entrepreneur of the Year’, a coveted title and one that over 600 young PSYBT supported businesses were eligible for this year.
The other three ‘Volunteer of the Year Award’ finalists are Michael Craig from the Grampian region, Ted Ferguson from the Borders, and Tom Byrne from Lanarkshire.
