Media Release: A hat-trick of projects for Space Solutions

SCOTLAND’S leading workplace design firm has celebrated completing three back-to-back refurbishments.

Space Solutions has undertaken the impressive £200,000 project, which saw the firm refurbishing and relocating office space for one of Edinburgh’s leading providers of housing and social care services, a top IT consultancy business and a community counselling charity.

The project began with IT consultancy firm, Analysys Mason, being relocated from their premises in the city’s Canal Court area to a new bespoke office in Haymarket.

Following this move, their vacated office in Canal Court was refurbished by Space Solutions to be used as Barony Housing Association’s new head office – and the firm then refurbished Barony’s old offices in Balcarres Street for PF Counselling Service.

Gary McGurk, business manager at Space Solutions, said that the fact that the ambitious project was completed on time and within budget was testament to the hard work of the firm’s Edinburgh team.

He added: “We have worked on complex and high value projects for a number of years but this was as challenging as they come.

“It has taken a lot of planning and hard work but we’re delighted with the end result, as are our clients. We have already received positive feedback from these firms about their new space, which is fantastic.

“This is all down to the expertise of the team in our Edinburgh office, although thanks must also go to the role our clients played in ensuring these projects were a success.”

Rebecca Wilson, chief executive of Barony Housing Association, said: “The new office at Canal Court is ideal for our long term needs as we now have space to work, space to meet and space to get away from our desks at lunch time. This will be our new home for the foreseeable future and we love it.

“Space Solutions really listened to what we needed and helped us make the most of our new office space. The attention to detail in the design was excellent and even with a tight timescale for the fit out work, they were able to move us in on schedule.”

Alison Hampton, director of the PF Counselling Service, added: “It was a big thing for us to consider moving our 75 volunteer counsellors and 200 clients to new premises. We took over a year to find, plan and fundraise for the move and we really wanted to create somewhere that matched the professionalism and care with which we work. We also wanted to avoid any disruption to our regular weekly counselling sessions.

“The premises at Balcarres Street presented a number of space planning and construction challenges that would simply have defeated us if it were not for Space Solutions. They helped us achieve a very high level of finish whilst keeping the drain on our charitable funds as low as possible. Everyone is delighted with the light, space and peaceful atmosphere in our new counselling centre.”

Space Solutions is Scotland’s biggest independent expert in helping businesses manage changes within the workplace. It operates UK-wide – from bases in Aberdeen, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Dundee and Livingston – to design, build, fit out, refurbish and relocate modern and productive business environments.
