Media Release: New venture, ‘Lady Drawers’, survives first year in business

AS seen on page 23 of The Herald on Monday the 23rd of November 2010, Sally Millar – aged 46 – has successfully completed her first year in the retail trade – following the opening of ‘Lady Drawers’ in February 2010.

Says a spokesperson: “Sally has found this first year to have been very daunting at times due to ever-increasing price increases and the lack of public spending.

“However, she has also said that there has never been a dull moment and keeping herself positive, even at the hardest times, is the way she has managed to cope.”

Lady Drawers sits off the beaten track at 66 Nithsdale Road, Strathbungo, Glasgow, G41 2EN next door to the ever-popular new bistro, ‘Cooky’.

Says Sally: “We sell a range of Bohemia style ladies clothing, hand made clothing, vintage clothing and a beautiful range of jewellery, bags, scarves, cards for all occasions and much more handmade by local artisans of the South Side of Glasgow.

“We have built up many regular customers within our first year and thanks to them and the local people of Strathbungo we have scraped through.

“My experience has also now shown me that my idea of ‘Lady Drawers’ being a showcase for local artisans of the South Side of Glasgow has proven to be a great success for most of them and this is my proudest achievment so far.

“That, and perhaps the fact that we have survived through some very tough months.

“We are celebrating Lady Drawers’ birthday on Thursday the 17th of February where we will provide some vino, a chance to meet the artisans in person and providing some great wee discounts.”
