Media Release: Could Eyemouth become the ‘New Dunbar’ and attract commuters from Edinburgh and Newcastle?

SCOTTISH Borders Council (SBC) is offering the former Eyemouth Academy school site for sale and aims to attract developers with an exciting housing opportunity.

It is hoped that the 4.6 hectare site on Coldingham Road close to the centre of Eyemouth will be sold as a single lot with the buyer demolishing the majority of the school but retaining a link building which will become a Primary School with playgrounds.

John Brown of DTZ (Edinburgh) has been instructed to market the site and said:”This site has excellent potential and is a good location for family housing.

“Eyemouth is an attractive proposition for developers, it has a good selection of local services and benefits from excellent transport links to Scottish Border towns and to cities such as, Edinburgh and Newcastle via the A1 and East Coast Rail routes.

|With scope for around 90 homes we are looking to attract interest from good developers.”

SBC has a planning brief which provides guidance on what it would like to see replace the former school and is looking to stimulate commercial thinking around combining the Primary School use with quality housing on this prime site and expects competitive bids.

The site provides an attractive setting for housing close to local amenities and SBC will be reactive to the markets response to this opportunity.

DTZ will market the site nationally on behalf of SBC. Interested parties should contact 0131 222 4500
