Media Release: Fun-packed day for Ypeople residents

YPEOPLE’S Petershill Drive service is holding a special open day event for residents on Tuesday 22nd March to encourage participation in planned activities and volunteering opportunities.

Ypeople is holding the event after receiving an award of £600 from the North Glasgow Integration Network to increase residents’ use of the 28th floor facility at Petershill Drive.

The open day will begin at 1pm with beauty sessions for women. Aromatherapy and massages for the neck and back will all be on offer giving ladies the chance to pamper themselves. There will also be a toddler’s arts class to inspire any budding Picassos in addition to basketball and five-a-side football for sports enthusiasts.

Attendees will also be able to enjoy a Pan African workshop with tips on different drumming techniques and an introduction to a range of instruments.

Residents can learn about forthcoming opportunities with Volunteering Glasgow and also North Glasgow Healthy Living which require a range of volunteers for a variety of different roles at the North Glasgow 5K at Ruchill Park on 17th April.

YDance will be discussing the Free to Dance programme for girls aged 13 – 19 years of age.

With help from the Scottish Government’s Health Department YDance run free dance services and encourage nearly 1,000 girls to get fit and use dancing to boost their confidence every week.

Joe Connolly, chief executive of Ypeople, said: “We are delighted to have been awarded this funding from the North Integration Network and with beauty sessions for the ladies, art classes for toddlers, five-a-side football, a dance class and a range of other activities on offer there is something for everyone at this special open day.

“This will be a fun day out for our residents and will give them the opportunity to socialise and encourage them to participate in activities and volunteer while also helping them to build their confidence.”
