Media Release: Charity waltzes off with £10k

AN unique fundraising event has seen a small, independent charity waltz off with £10,000 at the end of one evening.

Strictly Come Prancing took place in Banchory Town Hall and featured eight local couples performing a two-minute tango each to a sell-out audience.

The evening was a collaboration between impresario Peter Ferguson of pdf Productions and a group of senior pupils at Banchory Academy who have become dedicated fundraisers for the Forget-Me-Not Club which supports people with dementia and their carers on Deeside.

The money came from the sale of tickets, an auction, a raffle and dancers’ sponsorship.

The event was so popular that there are plans to make it an annual event.

Peter Ferguson, who gave his time and expertise free of charge, has now been approached to put on versions of Prancing around Scotland.

Peter represents several Scottish entertainers who have been approached about taking part.
