Media Release: NEL to address flow measurement challenges and innovation at its fourth Americas Workshop

FOLLOWING the success of its previous Americas Workshops, international technology services organisation, NEL announces the focus of its forthcoming workshop – addressing the changes in flow measurement practice which affect the Americas region.

The workshop will run from 26th to 28th April, 2011, at The Woodlands Resort and Conference Centre, Houston, Texas, and will draw attention to relevant issues relating to complex fluids, and innovative measurement technologies.

The 2011 event is specifically targeted at metering and instrumentation engineers, production and reservoir engineers, hydrocarbon accountants, metering system vendors, product suppliers, government regulators and researchers, who will come together to study the various flow measurement challenges.

Jim Holt, business sector manager for NEL, comments: “Since its launch in 2008, The Americas Workshop has become highly regarded in the industry as a forum for the sharing of knowledge between experts in upstream, midstream, and downstream flow measurement.

“These workshops have been operating to directly aid industry experts, detailing technological advancements, new regulations and best practice advice.

“Measurement challenges have never been greater than they are today, particularly due to the global exploration of unconventional hydrocarbons.

“To try and combat these challenges, we have put together a comprehensive programme which covers a wide range of topics such as complex fluids, wet gas, subsea, allocation and flaring measurement, and multiphase metering.”

The Americas Workshop will feature an additional aspect this year, with the introduction of manufacturers’ sessions where exhibitors have the opportunity to showcase technical innovation, new products and services to delegates.

There will also be technical presentations and papers selected by a panel of industry experts from operators through to manufacturers.

A complimentary ‘Flaring’ presentation is also included where attendees can discuss technical challenges facing industry today.
