Media Release: Atos Origin supports The Prince and Princess of Wales Hospice in Glasgow

LEADING international IT services company, Atos Origin, has donated computer equipment to charity to allow fundraising and education teams to spend more time out in the local business and clinical communities to raise awareness of the hospice’s work and funding for its new facility.

As part of its continued charitable efforts across Scotland and its corporate social responsibility, Atos Origin’s latest donation is the provision of two hi-tech computer notebooks to The Prince & Princess of Wales Hospice.

Located on the river Clyde, the hospice aims to help patients achieve the best quality of life in whatever time remains for them by providing care and support for patients, their families, children and carers.

All care is free of charge with annual running costs for the hospice expected to reach £4m this year of which £2.6m must come from fundraising and voluntary donations. In March, the hospice announced plans to build a new facility in Glasgow, due for completion in 2016.

In addition to enhancing existing services for adults, it will also encompass a specialist palliative care service for young people aged between 15-25.

Agnes Valentine, client executive at Atos Origin, said: “As an international IT services company based in Glasgow, Atos Origin is delighted to locally support The Prince & Princess of Wales Hospice.

“It’s an extremely worthwhile charity that provides considerable support to its patients and their families.

“By providing these computers, we hope that they will help to enhance the work of the team at the Hospice to the benefit of its patients and staff.”

Morag Cunningham, director of Fundraising and Communications at The Prince & Princess of Wales Hospice, said: “We are extremely grateful for the kind donation of the notebooks to the Hospice by Atos Origin.

“It is essential that our fundraising and education teams spend time out in the local business and clinical communities raising awareness of the work of the hospice.

“These new notebooks will provide significant support to this important work.”

The hospice is just one of Atos Origin’s selected charities the company donates to.

Atos Origin has already raised over £35,000 for the Sick Kids Friends Foundation, Maggie’s Centres and Cancer Research UK.
