Media Release: Tay FM and AM’s ‘Cash for Kids’ for Ayley and Chloe

TAY FM and AM’s charity, Cash for Kids, has roped in listeners to help two very special little girls have a healthier life.

Over the past few months, Ayley and Chloe Hirsch have touched the hearts of everyone in Tayside.

The two year-old twins from Carnoustie both suffer from cerebral palsy and face a life of immobility unless enough money can be raised to send them for life changing surgery in America.

The girls’ family set-up their own fundraising campaign and through the generosity and compassion of people have already raised over £70,000 of the £80,000 needed for the trip.

Tay FM and AM Cash for Kids has asked listeners to get over the last fundraising hurdle and donate the much-needed final funds to ensure the trip goes ahead.

Money generated will also contribute to the aftercare the twins will need such as a year of physiotherapy sessions, three weeks at a special rehabilitation centre and special equipment needed to help their recovery and development.

This campaign to raise funds culminates on Sunday 3rd July in Broughty Ferry with a short symbolic walk on the beach at 12.30pm as part of Broughty Ferry Gala Day.

Tay FM and AM Cash for Kids has invited a whole host of well-known names to join them in this short walk including Scottish singing sensation, Carrie Mac and The Gospel Truth Choir (both will also perform at Broughty ferry Gala Day), International Hairdresser to the stars Charlie Taylor, football legends Lee Wilkie and Jocky Scott, Dundee United captain Jon Daly and Sean Dillion, Lord Provost John Letford, Depute Provost of Angus Cllr. Peter Murphy, three fantastic dance crews from around the region, Tay presenters and the Cash for Kids mascot Courage the Cat.

Tay FM’s personal trainer, Stephen Clarke, will put the crowd through a short warm-up then the walkers will be led down the beach by a lone piper for the symbolic walk.

Tay FM and AM Cash for Kids charity co-ordinator, Lynda Curran, said: “We are delighted that the family have raised so much money in such a short space of time. Our ‘Small Steps’ campaign is only a small part of the fundraising which has been a phenomenal success. We’re sure that with the further donations we receive on Sunday that we have been able to contribute a great deal to the campaign to help the twins.”
