Media Release: Sea Kayak Arisaig launches winter warmer adventure programme

SEA Kayak Arisaig has come up with a varied and truly imaginative programme of sea kayaking events for the autumn and winter seasons, including a three-day trip following in the wake of Bonnie Prince Charlie and a number of Yoga and Sea Kayaking weekends in the run-up to Christmas.

All courses are hosted by the award-winning Glenuig Inn in Arisaig, providing adventurous souls with a warm welcome, good food, real ales and log fires to help kayakers relax after a challenging day at sea.

Bookings are now being taken for a host of scheduled events, including:

28th – 31st Oct – Sea-kayaking for beginners (max six persons, four days)

Aimed at those who are interested in becoming more familiar with sea-kayaking but who have had no formal tuition and skills development. Under the excellent tutelage of instructor, Carol Lang, sea-kayakers will learn their skills in the beautiful waters of the Sound of Arisaig and come home to the creature comforts at Glenuig Inn. 2nd – 4th Nov – Follow in the Wake of Bonnie Prince Charlie! (max five persons, three days)

Follow in the footsteps of Bonnie Prince Charlie and discover the stories that lie behind one of Scotland’s most famous characters. This trip is more focused on journeying rather than skills development and coaching. Winter paddling in Scotland can be absolutely fantastic, and there is often no better time to explore Scotland’s shores and discover its history! Coach – Carol Lang. 19th -20th November – Skills Development (max four persons, two days)

This course is intended to help brush up on already existing skills. Designed for those who have had tuition or coaching in the past but would like to apply this to moderate or slightly rougher water.Coach – Carol Lang. 21st – 24th NovemberA Women Only Course: Introduction to Intermediate water (max four persons, four days)

This course is for women only (sorry chaps!) and is designed to develop and tune existing skills in moderate water. An all-women environment can often inspire confidence and self esteem, and with Carol Lang as coach, the course promises to be great fun as well as instructive. 26th – 27th Nov – Intermediate skills development (max five persons, two days)

A course designed to develop paddling techniques in all waters. In two days, Carol Lang will take the paddler from a beginner to a confident sea kayaker in all waters. (Coaching ₤150.00, two nights B&B plus two days sea-kayak hire from £80, total from £230)

29th – 1st Dec – Introduction to winter sea-kayaking (max six persons, three days)

Sea kayaking in the winter offers different challenges. Learn how to handle a sea kayak in the beautiful winter waters of the Sound of Arisaig and the surrounding lochs and come home to the creature comforts of the warm and cosy Glenuig Inn. 2nd – 5th Dec – Yoga and sea kayaking for the perfect pre-Christmas break (max three persons, four days)

There is no better time to take a break than the weekends preceding Christmas. The rest of the world is going crazy in the consumer chaos of December and a select few have their priorities sorted for this long weekend of sea-kayaking and yoga. The day will be divided up between spending time learning how to sea kayak in this most scenic of waters and then coming back to the warmth and comfort of Glenuig Inn for an afternoon of yoga. 9th – 12th Dec – Yoga and Intermediate sea kayaking for the perfect pre-Christmas break (max six persons, four days)

Combining the challenge of winter sea-kayaking with the relaxation of yoga in this run-up to Christmas is the get out clause that many will be looking for. Ideal as an early Christmas present or as a ‘treat yourself’ voucher to avoid the Christmas rush, this four-day course, being coached by Carol Lang and Agnes Ashbell, is a perfect combination of thrill and chill. Aimed at the intermediate paddler the sea-kayaking aspect will take in the beautiful waters of the Sound of Arisaig and return to the warmth and comfort of the Glenuig Inn for the yoga.
