Media Release: Falkland Centre for stewardship launches autumn harvest programme

NATURE-loving families are being invited to experience the first signs of autumn with a packed programme of events from Falkland Centre for Stewardship.

As part of the International Year of Forests in Scotland, there are a whole range of fun filled activities for all the family including cooking events, walks, talks and basket making.

Activities in the programme include juice, jam and jelly making, a tree walk, squirrel survey training, tours of the House of Falkland, hedgerow basketry with Jane Wilkinson, bushcrafts and fungal forays, and wild art with Jan Hendry.

On Saturday 22nd October, there will be a full day of activities with a red squirrel fun day in partnership with the Fife Red Squirrel Project.

Announcing the programme, Tess Darwin, woodland learning manager at Falkland Centre for Stewardship, said: “We are delighted to offer such a range of activities for all the family to enjoy over the autumn months.

“We look forward to welcoming people to take part in these events as well as enjoy the wonderful autumn colours that the woodlands of Falkland Estate offers.

“Like it or not, the days are starting to get shorter and with berries on the trees, and brambles in the hedges, we are beginning to witness the first signs that autumn is on its way. So let’s enjoy it!”
