Media Release: Coalfields Regeneration Trust extends deadline

WOULD-be entrepreneurs have been given more time to take advantage of the Coalfields Regeneration Trust’s £100,000 jobs challenge.

The deadline for submitting proposals for a community enterprise in any of Scotland’s former mining areas of Fife, the Lothians, Clackmannanshire, Stirlingshire, Lanarkshire or Ayrshire has now been extended to September 30.

Scottish Trustee of the Coalfields Regeneration Trust, Nicky Wilson, said: “We’ve already had a great response, but some people need our support and a bit more time to finalise their submissions”.

Note to Editors:

  • The Scottish Government funds the work of the Coalfields Regeneration Trust in Scotland
  • Our key priorities are supporting local initiatives to improve health and employment prospects for those who live in coalfields areas.
  • The Coalfields Regeneration Trust was formed in 1999 to help mining communities recover from the devastating effects of pit closures.  Since then the Trust has spent over £15m in Scotland supporting over 500 community-based and job creation projects in the hardest hit areas.
