Media Release: Atout France congratulates Peak Retreats on its win at prestigious awards

The French Alps specialist scoops Best Ski Company award at Guardian, Observer and guardian.co.uk Travel awards for third consecutive year

ATOUT France, the France Tourism Development Agency, is pleased to announce the accolade for the Portsmouth-based tour operator. Guardian, Observer and guardian.co.uk readers voted for the overall winner and choose Peak Retreats as their favourite for the third time in a row.

The company specialises in the smaller resorts of the French Alps with unspoilt and traditional villages.

New to its collection of resorts this year is La Rosière.

Lesser known and very different to its bigger neighbours Val d’Isère and Les Arcs, La Rosière is good for families with a variety of beginner slopes, a charming compact centre and friendly locals.

The new resort joins a number of long standing favourites in its portfolio including Samoëns, Morillon, Le Grand Bornand, Aussois and Vaujany.

Peak Retreat’s award comes as news of the first snow in Chamonix arrives.

Falling earlier than expected over the weekend, the snow currently stands at 20cm above 1,200m.

As one of the highest resorts in Europe, the slopes of Chamonix are usually the first to be hit and it provides a good weather signal to the rest of the French resorts, which will see the snow in the coming days and weeks.
