Media Release: Images of Science exhibition to be launched at GSC

GLASGOW Science Centre is to launch an exhibition that features striking images taken by scientists from the University of Glasgow on Friday 4 November.

Images of Science is an exhibition that features images taken by scientists from the College of Medical, Veterinary and Life Sciences at the University of Glasgow.

The exhibition consists of eight, large outdoor panels located on the Clyde Walkway next to Glasgow Science Centre (GSC).

The 14 panels contain two images together with interpretative text that describes the scientists’ cutting-edge research. Many of the themes featured in the exhibition are key issues in biological, environmental and medical research.

All the images have individual QR codes which, when scanned, take the visitor to a webpage where they can listen to an audio accompaniment to the image in front of them.

The audio is of a scientist from the corresponding research group describing the image and why their research is important. There are also webpages on the GSC site containing the images, text and embedded audio.

Dr Robin Hoyle, director of Science at Glasgow Science Centre, said:

“Glasgow has a rich heritage in the medical, veterinary and life sciences.

Today, scientists at the University of Glasgow continue to work to improve human and animal health. GSC is delighted to collaborate with the university to highlight the importance and relevance of life changing research taking place at the University of Glasgow and enthuse and inform people with striking scientific images and concise text.”
