Media Release: Entrepreneurs to share top tips for success with students

ONE of Scotland’s best known entrepreneurs, Jim McColl OBE will be among a top line up of speakers addressing hundreds of Scottish university students at the Scottish Institute for Enterprise (SIE) Student Enterprise Summit 2012, at Glasgow’s Royal Concert Hall on March 22.

SIE’s Student Enterprise Summit stimulates and inspires students to become more entrepreneurial. Hundreds of students from all of Scotland’s 19 Higher Education Institutions will attend to learn from expert speakers and network with business people.

An awards ceremony on the day will also recognise five outstanding individuals:

* The 2012 SIE Entrepreneurial Educator of the Year – awarded to an academic tutor for their outstanding contribution and commitment to inspiring and encouraging enterprise among young university students.

* The 2012 SIE Interns of the Year – awarded to the most outstanding SIE Interns for their contribution on campus and commitment to promoting enterprise and entrepreneurship to their fellow students.

* The 2012 SIE New Ideas Competition winner – awarded to a university student or recent graduate in recognition of their outstanding business idea. The overall winner receives £500 and £1,000 in-kind business support.

* The 2012 SIE New Ventures Competition winner – awarded to a university student or recent graduate who has a well developed business idea or business up and running. The overall winner receives £1,000 and up to £5,000 in-kind business support.
