Media Release: Brasserie receives early acclaim

HAVING only been under the wing of Kenny Atkinson for a matter of months, The Brasserie by Atkinson has already been awarded a national acclaim, and championed for the use of local produce, thanks to the introduction of a modern and fresh new dining choice on offer.

The Brasserie, which is one of three distinct restaurants at the award-winning Rockliffe Hall resort in Darlington, has recently won a TasteDurham award for being both Highest Quality Assured and Local Produce Champion. Showcasing the very best of the region’s food and drink, TasteDurham is a national standard, awarded by Visit England to businesses in the area.

The team at the hotel in North England are delighted to have been awarded Highest Quality Assured, a standard only awarded to establishments meeting 80 per cent of the TasteDurham criteria which covers menu choice, quality of food, and the comfort and cleanliness of the restaurant.

The scheme also recognises businesses that source their produce locally. The Local Produce Champion mark is awarded to businesses who are strongly committed to using local suppliers, fresh local produce and meet 60 per cent of the local produce champion criteria.

The restaurant in Darlington went through a rigorous assessment by judges including first impressions, quality, maintenance, cleanliness and ambience of interior areas, hospitality, service, food quality, website feedback and an overall summary. The Brasserie received a huge 93 per cent overall score.

Kenny Atkinson, director of food at the five-star resort, said:

“The Brasserie is now an excellent place to showcase our skill. We have stepped both restaurants up a culinary level, with specialist taster menu’s now launched in The Orangery, allowing the market menu to be showcased in The Brasserie.

“With the new bar area and tranquil ambience, it is ideal for a relaxed evening meal, as well as still serving healthy options to spa visitors and luncheon guests through the day. It is excellent that Taste Durham has recognised not only the quality of food we serve but that we champion the use of local produce with stunning results.”

Just recently, the Brasserie has undergone a transformation with the addition of new booths, banquette style seating and clothed tables in the evening creating a fresh modern and relaxed feel.

The bar area boasts cosmopolitan stools and high tables, enhanced by the heated outdoor balcony offering views across the golf course and the beautiful County Durham countryside.

Evening dining at The Brasserie by Atkinson starts from £24.95 for a two course market menu, and can be booked by calling 01325 729 999.
