Media Release: Cyclists in a spin for Sport Relief

ON Saturday 24th March 2012, a day shrouded by East Coast ‘haar’ members of local cycling club Musselburgh Roads CC completed more than 800 miles around Scotland, over a period of 12 hours to raise slightly over £1000.00 for the Sport Relief fundraising initiative.

The MRCC/Tesco 12 Hour Turbo Challenge was held in the comfort of the foyer of Tesco Extra in Musselburgh and the event had some 30 cyclists (young and old alike) taking turns on three static cycles (spin bikes) with progress and time recorded on a digital countdown board/background map.

The Challenge organised by MRCC and assisted by Tesco Community champion, Anne Fraser, drew lots of attention from members of the general public going about their daily shop who showed their amazing support and generosity to the cause which contributed greatly to the success of the day.

The members of Musselburgh Roads CC would like to thank everyone who gave their time, energy, encouragement and financial support for the event.
