Media Release: Le Tour de France and Lance Armstong the focus of April’s ‘La Tete et les Jambes’ talk

Libération reporter Jean-Louis Le Touzet discusses the Tour de France and Lance Armstrong at ‘La Tête et les Jambes’ (Head and Legs) initiated by the Institut français d’Ecosse.

ON Thursday 5 April (6.00 pm), Libération reporter, Jean-Louis Le Touzet, offers an inside view of how the French newspaper covers cycling in general and the Tour de France – and Lance Armstrong in particular.

Jean-Louis Le Touzet is an iconic French sportswriter and the laureate of many awards for his covering of sailing and cycling competitions.

He recently joined the international news desk at Libération and covered the Arab spring. Le Touzet was recently awarded 2012 ‘Prix Louis Hachette pour la presse écrite’.

‘La Tête et les Jambes’ talks are a new series of events questioning the figure of the champion in our current societies.

From February to June, the Institute invites French and Scottish journalists to look in depth into the qualities athletes need to become authentic ‘champions’, using the example of popular and successful sportsmen of our days.

What does it take to be a champion nowadays? A fitted body, courage, fortitude and intelligence, obviously, but what else? Charisma? Money? Political statements? More? These are some of the fascinating questions, in addition to those of the audience, the guests will explore.
