Media Release: Young manager-finalist puts Aberdeenshire on the map

DAVIDSON’S Specialist Butchers in Inverurie, Aberdeenshire can now boast one of the UK’s top managers following an awards ceremony in London this week.

At the Meat Management Award for Young Manager of the Year, held at London’s prestigious Royal Garden Hotel last night (Thursday, May 24), Steve Cusack was named in the final four for the acclaimed award.

He was accompanied to the awards dinner by managing director, John Davidson, who, following the event, said: “Steve is a huge asset to the company and this is a thoroughly deserved recognition.

“As my right hand man, he is invaluable to the smooth running of the business, allowing me freedom to concentrate on other aspects of the company.

“Being a finalist in the Young Manager of the Year award will give him a great confidence boost and allow him to continue building his career with the Butchers Shop of the Year!”

Steve (25), from Inverurie, added: “This is wonderful recognition for the hard work and dedication that not only I but also John has put in over the years.

“Although naturally quite shy, working at Davidson’s Specialist Butchers has allowed me to grow as a person and has instilled in me the love of not only butchery and customer service, but of training and guiding our young apprentices, watching them grow to love the butchery business as much as I do.”

Notes: The annual Meat Management Awards sets a benchmark for recognising excellence throughout the meat industry, not just in one narrow sector and includes the prestigious Excellence Award, recognising an individual’s contribution to the industry.

The promotion is scheduled over a full nine-month period and includes the awards presentation dinner in May 2012 – itself an important black tie networking event at a five star venue in London.

Davidson’s are a multi, award-winning, family-run specialist butcher, with outlets in the North-east of Scotland and an ever-increasing presence online. Providing the best in local Aberdeenshire beef, lamb and pork, together with wild Scottish game, chicken and fresh fish sustainably sourced from the North Sea.

They also have a wide range of award-winning handmade sweet and savoury bakery produce, and in stores also stock a large selection of locally sourced fruit and vegetables.

Davidson’s are currently the only Q Guild butchers shops in Aberdeen and Grampian, with MD, John Davidson, currently serving as the Q Guild’s Scottish chair.
