Media Release: ACE proud to support golf drive for children’s hospice charity

A CHARITY golf event sponsored by social enterprise champions, ACE, has raised more than £9,000 to help youngsters with life-shortening conditions.

Alloa Community Enterprises Ltd (ACE) have sponsored the CHAS Charity Golf Event for the last three years as part of its commitment to investing in people, communities and supporting good causes.

The star-studded golf day at Alloa Golf Club, organised by retired policeman, Andrew Mathieson, attracted top names from the world of football, including Alan Hansen, Alan Rough, Mark Hateley, Ally McCoist and Ian Durrant.

CHAS provides the only hospice services in Scotland for children and young people with life-limiting conditions. It costs more than £5 million a year to run the charity and its two hospices, Rachel House in Kinross and Robin House in Balloch, as well as the CHAS at home service.

Malcolm McArdle, ACE managing director, said: “Alloa Community Enterprises Ltd has sponsored this fantastic event for the past three years raising more than £20,000 for CHAS in the process.

“This is just one of the many good causes we are involved in and we are delighted that once again CHAS will see their organisation benefiting from the monies raised.”

ACE, which is itself a charity, fielded its own team of golfers for the day of Lesley Baillie, David Haswell and Jamie MacSween who came in third place.

ACE Recycling Group is a Community Interest Company that provides training and employment, improves employability, increases environmental awareness and returns profits to support the social needs of communities in which it operates.

The company runs a profitable waste management business, ACE Recycling Group, which provides a professional recycling service to businesses, local authorities, and communities across Clackmannanshire, Stirling, Falkirk, Lanarkshire, West Lothian, Glasgow, and Edinburgh as well as other areas of Scotland through a network of strategic partners.

Andrew Mathieson, who organised the Central Scotland Police event said: “CHAS is a wonderful charity. It provides the only hospice services in Scotland for children and young people who have life-shortening conditions for which there is no known cure.

“It is a privilege to support them and I would like to thank ACE for their continued support.”
