GLASGOW-based The Urban Pub Company is set to roll out an ambitious expansion programme throughout Scotland’s central belt that will see three new licensed outlets open their doors under three new brands before the year end.

Part of an expansion strategy aimed at opening up a string of new outlets all based on the concept of serving a quality food and drink offering at reasonable prices in locations neglected by major licensed operators, The Urban Pub Company is on schedule to launch The Fox & Ferret in the third week of October following extensive renovation and rebranding of the former Amigo’s Bar and Restaurant in the Townhead area of Hamilton.

The Fox & Ferret will be followed closely by The Dog & Duck in Cambuslang and the Rat & Parrot in Bishopbriggs.

Whilst all three outlets will be open in time for the lucrative festive period, The Urban Pub Company is on the acquisition trail to open more outlets in 2012.

“Our aim is to open up a series of new outlets for these three new brands in provincial towns throughout Scotland’s central belt where major pub operators do not presently have a presence,” said a spokesperson.

“This roll-out represents significant investment and signifies our confidence that there is scope for major growth within parts of Scotland currently not being served an adequate quality food and drink offering at sensible prices.

“Given the market opportunities arising from the current economic climate, we are convinced that the time is now right for us to embark on this ambitious expansion programme.”

The Urban Pub Company operates a number of licensed premises throughout the Central Belt, including: The Lincoln Inn, on Glasgow’s Great Western Road; 1901 on Pollokshaws Road; The Wise Monkey, Great Western Road and The Scotch and Rye in Summerston. It also manages a number of outlets on behalf of various pubcos and independent operators.

This management side of the business has flourished in the last six months, adding six outlets to a burgeoning portfolio.
