FIVE-star Edinburgh visitor attraction, the Scotch Whisky Experience, has launched morning masterclasses for whisky buffs and those keen to learn more about Scotland’s national drink.

Offering the opportunity to nose some lesser known whiskies and to take time to explore their characteristics, the new Morning Masterclass is ideal for small groups or as a unique Christmas present for the budding whisky connoisseur.

Beginning in the awe inspiring surroundings of what is widely considered to be the world’s largest collection of Scotch whisky, students will view the record-breaking collection over coffee and shortbread, and discover stories behind some of its hidden gems.

The class then continues with an hour-long tasting, from the lesser-known single grain whiskies, to the characterful single malts and the world-renowned blended scotch whiskies.

A rare nosing of some special whiskies, including new make spirit, allows guests to get under the skin of the maturation process and fully appreciate the flavour of each individual dram.

The class culminates with a fun sensory perception test.

Speaking about the new Morning Masterclass, marketing manager, Julie Trevisan Hunter, comments: ”The morning is a great time to nose whisky as all your senses are alive and receptive to the unique aromas.

“These classes offer keen whisky enthusiasts the chance to explore Scotland’s national drink in more depth and delve into the finer details for a more learned appreciation.

“The hour-long tasting is coupled with a private and extended view of our iconic whisky collection for the ultimate whisky-lovers’ experience.”

The Morning Masterclasses run daily, Monday to Friday at 10am for 90 minutes. Morning Masterclasses are available to groups of any size up to 20 and cost £25.00 per person.

Participants also receive a discount in the Whisky Shop, a boxed crystal whisky tasting glass and a copy of Whisky Magazine.
