“Directly focused on supporting the continuing development of the gaming sector throughout Scotland, the Game Jam event offers a fantastic opportunity to showcase emerging talent, and support continued development of the industry. We are delighted to be working with Romana and the team to help make 2012 the most successful Game Jam yet.”

Launched in 2009, the annual Global Game Jam takes place during the last weekend in January, with teams in locations throughout the world working to create a complete game based on a specific set of themes.

Judging the games based on a specialist list of criteria, competing teams are critiqued by a judging panel including games industry experts. Enjoying significant growth in participant numbers year on year, the Global Game Jam saw 69 competitions take place across 44 countries worldwide in 2011.

The Scottish Game Jam is hosted by Glasgow Caledonian University, which boasts a thriving games department offering a wide range of games centered courses including 3D computer animation, computer games design and computer games software development.

Chair of the Scottish Game Jam 2012 organising team, Romana Khan, said:

“I’m really looking forward to the upcoming event. From its humble beginnings in 2009, Scottish Game Jam has produced some fantastic games. It’s grown from 23 participants to over 110 participants, and we expect 2012 to be even bigger and better.

“We are delighted that Revolver are working with us on the Scottish Game Jam. Experience within the Scottish games industry and an understanding of the sector, coupled with the focus on Digital PR makes Revolver the natural choice to help increase the Scottish Game Jam’s media presence,” continued Romana.

Bringing together Revolver’s expertise and continued involvement in supporting emerging companies from technology and digital sectors, the Scottish Game Jam will benefit from support by way of a comprehensive online and offline media campaign.

Experts in digital media, the Revolver team ensure that all activity is integrated into an appropriate multi-platform digital strategy tailored to meet each campaign’s individual goals and engage with the target audience.
