SCOTS comedian, Billy Kirkwood, is breaking the mould at this year’s Glasgow International Comedy Festival by staging three comedic firsts.

Says a spokesperson: “The acclaimed stand-up is hosting three comedy events never before seen in the festival’s ten-year history.

“As well as presenting the first ever show celebrating the nerdy world of all things geek, Billy also hosts an evening centred around the antics of the wrestling world and stages his critically acclaimed Fringe 2011 sell-out show in which he explores the strange and hilarious world of tattoos.”

In BILLY & DES’ GEEK COMEDY NIGHT, Billy (“naturally funny, fizzing with energy” – The List) and Irishman, Des O’Gorman, are the self-styled ‘Dukes of Dork’ and plan to celebrate all things geeky (comic books, superheroes, video games and sci-fi) in a night filled with stand-up, sketches, improv, games and some special surprise guests.

The evening of nerdy shenanigans is held at the heart of the city’s nerdom, Plan B books in the Merchant City on March 29.

Billy is also re-enacting his successful Fringe 2011 sell-out smash, Show Me Your Tattoo, in a late night special performance at The Stand, March 26, in which he promises to “show you mine, if you show me yours”. It will be a spontaneous and interactive show which will explore the weird and wonderful world of human graffiti.

Billy Kirkwood said: “It’s like Tattoos Anonymous except there’s nothing anonymous about tattoos… everyone from the comedians to the audience get to show off!”

In Billy’s third festival show, he hosts a special live stage version of the hugely popular radio show, The One Wrestling Show – LIVE! (Blackfriars, March 25). In a night of grappling gags and smackdown funnies, Billy is joined by Neil ‘The Wee Man’ Bratchpiece, ICW wrestling star Chris Renfrew and Pulse FM presenter, Chris Duke.

Billy added: “Each of the three shows is completely different and is about bringing comedy to new audiences. There has never been a show about geeks, wrestling or tattoos at the festival before.

“But they’re far from exclusive. Even if you’re not a tattooed, comic-reading wrestler, there will be something for you.”
