Media Release: Send-it celebrates certification

Send-It

AN Aberdeen charity and social enterprise is celebrating achieving one of the first certifications of its kind for the sector in the North east.

Send-it fulfilment solutions on John Street have just been awarded the ISO9001:2008 certification for quality assurance.

In order to achieve the certification, Send-it’s business systems underwent rigorous external auditing and benchmarking processes.

The organisation started life in the 1960s as part of the Unicorn Enterprises social enterprise project at Aberdeen’s Royal Cornhill Hospital.

Nowadays, Send-it provides work, skills and training opportunities to adults who are disadvantaged from the jobs market, such as people recovering from mental health difficulties.

Services offered by the Royal Mail accredited organisation include direct mailing, digital printing and distribution services and clients include Aberdeen Performing Arts, Aberdeen Football Club, Specialist Cars, Beaver Healthcare Equipment and Aberdeen & Grampian Chamber of Commerce as well as various oil and gas operators and service companies.

Commenting on the certification, Send-it manager, Jenny Thomson, said: “This achievement recognises our commitment to providing a consistent, effective service to all our customers.

“We are delighted that our figures show growth of 20 per cent in the past year, and that upward trend includes many new and returning clients.

“Send-it is also popular with people wanting to come and work with us, and we always have to operate a waiting list because there is such a high level of demand for placements.”

Says Elaine Munro, Performance Global Portfolio Manager at BSI: “Achieving ISO 9001 certification is a process that requires commitment and effort from any organisation.

“The purpose of a quality management system is to ensure a company can deliver what it has agreed to supply to a customer.

“By achieving this certificate it demonstrates Send-it’s commitment to embedding a culture of customer-centric excellence and providing a solid platform for continual improvement.”
