AS part of its continued drive for expansion, leading mid-tier accountancy firm, French Duncan, has appointed former Deloitte director, Brian Milne, as a partner in its business recovery practice.

An insolvency practitioner dealing with all aspects of corporate insolvency, personal insolvency, restructuring and advice work, Milne has been a director at Deloitte since 2005, prior to which he was a senior manager at PwC.

Commenting on his appointment, Milne said: “I’m delighted to join French Duncan, which can boast one of the largest – and fastest growing – mid-tier business recovery practices in Scotland.

“For me, a key attraction of French Duncan is its ability to provide clients with a level of expertise more economically and efficiently than many of its larger competitors.

“Much of the market for business recovery work in Scotland resides in the SME sector and my view is that, at French Duncan, clients can expect to receive a more personal service with direct partner involvement than they might receive from a larger accountancy firm.

“French Duncan has the potential to offer SMEs better value than some of its larger competitors whilst often providing a more personal, more responsive and more flexible service.”

French Duncan’s managing partner, Graeme Finnie, said: “Our ability to attract someone of Brian’s calibre to French Duncan is a tremendous reflection of the momentum that this firm has built up over recent years.

“We remain committed fully to our ongoing strategy of seeking to attract the best possible professional advisors to bolster our offering and Brian’s appointment provides yet more evidence of our commitment to the expansion of our well established business recovery practice.”

Milne’s appointment means that French Duncan can boast one of the largest mid-tier business recovery practices in Scotland, with two partners spearheading a practice of up to 30 dedicated, full-time and highly experienced staff. In recent years the practice has opened a business recovery practice in Edinburgh and acquired a business recovery practice in Hamilton.

Based in the Glasgow office, Milne’s remit will see him provide all aspects of corporate insolvency, personal insolvency, restructuring and advice work throughout the practice’s six offices across the central belt.
