LEADING independent courier company, Eagle Couriers, has shown it has a way with words by revealing it has completed a mammoth book delivery job for Oxfam.

The charity’s Stirling shop runs a book bank scheme that encourages residents in Stirlingshire to donate their unwanted books so they can be either recycled or be sold on to raise funds.

Eagle Couriers has been supporting the shop for five years by organising a collection service from the 21 drop off points throughout the region. And now the firm has revealed that it is celebrating reaching a landmark uplift of its 250,000th book.

Eagle Couriers director, Jerry Stewart, said: “We have been working with the shop for quite some time now and knew we had delivered a substantial amount of books – but even we were amazed when we worked out that it totalled in excess of a quarter of a million books.

“At Eagle Couriers we always want to give back to the community as much as we can. By helping deliver these books to the store we are hopefully helping Oxfam with its important fundraising work. They do amazing work for countries all over the world, and it’s great to think that we are a small part of helping to make that happen.”

Carol Gray, manager at the Oxfam book store in Stirling, which celebrated its 40th anniversary in the town, said: “We are delighted to be celebrating the shop’s 40th year. The store has become a real integral part of the local community and is well known amongst the residents of Stirling.

“Eagle Couriers has been a huge help to Oxfam over the last five years supporting us with the collection and deliveries of thousands of books.

“We have a great relationship with the staff at Eagle Couriers. Jerry even surprised us with a congratulatory cake to celebrate the shop’s anniversary.”

Eagle Couriers is Scotland’s leading courier firm with over 30 years’ experience. More information about the company can be found at www.eaglecouriers.co.uk.
