A BRAVE team of insurance professionals are set to take on the West Highland Way in aid of charity later this month.

The team from Central Insurance Services (CIS) are embarking on the five day challenge in a bid to raise funds for Aberdeen-headquartered charity Archway, setting off on Monday (April 23).

Graham Rodger, Phil Brunton, Bryan McKinnon, Colin Macdonald, Euan McKenzie and Martin Gray from the company’s Westhill office are aiming to complete the 96-mile challenge in five days.

The team will walk from Milngavie to Fort William, taking in the banks of Loch Lomand in a bid to raise up to £5,000 for the charity, which supports adults and children with learning difficulties.

To ensure the team can raise as much as possible for Archway, CIS has kindly assisted with the team’s accommodation and travel costs.

Graham Rodger, one of the organisers behind the challenge, has been delighted with the support the team has received.

He said: “The level of support the team has received from our colleagues, friends and family has been fantastic. The support has really helped to create a great team spirit and determination to complete the challenge for Archway.

“I personally suggested Archway as the chosen charity of the challenge as my sister, and many of her friends, greatly benefit from the crucial respite services provided by the charity.

“It really does provide a life-line for many people, giving those using the charity’s services a feeling of independence they may never have had a chance to experience otherwise.”

Janine Davies, PR and fundraising manager at Archway, is delighted to have the support of the CIS team.

She said: “Fundraising from dedicated teams like this is really crucial to Archway with every penny raised helping to ensure we can continue to provide our crucial services throughout Aberdeen.

“On behalf of Archway, I would like to wish the team the very best and I hope the midges are kind to them during the walk!”

Archway is an independent Aberdeen based charity offering a range of innovative community based services to improve the opportunities available and quality of life for people with learning disabilities in Aberdeen and throughout the North-east area.
