LEADING Scottish property consultants, CKD Galbraith, today announced the expansion of its team with the appointment of experienced planning consultant, Des Montgomery.

Des, a Fellow of the Royal Town Planning Institute, has been appointed on a consultancy basis to CKD Galbraith’s Cupar office.

With over 40 years experience as a planner at a senior level both in local government and in private practice, he is a well known face in the planning field in Scotland.

This appointment demonstrates CKD Galbraith’s commitment to the Fife property market and marks a significant move to advance the firm’s existing planning services – offering a comprehensive and complementary service to its clients covering the areas of planning applications and appeals, commercial development, listed and historic buildings, building surveying and urban design and town planning amongst many others.

Before establishing the planning and architectural practice Montgomery Forgan Associates in 1979, of which he was senior partner until 2008, Des was deputy director of Planning for North East Fife District Council.

It is this knowledge and expertise he will bring to his consultancy role with CKD Galbraith to assist the Cupar office in offering planning advice to a wide range of clients and extending its reach to new clients throughout the Fife area and beyond.

Des Montgomery said: “I am delighted to be pursuing my planning consultancy through CKD Galbraith. I look forward to working with the well established team, offering my experience and skills to the practice.”

Mike Reid, head of CKD Galbraith’s Cupar office, said: “We are very pleased to announce that Des Montgomery has agreed to join the team of consultants associated with CKD Galbraith bringing his skills and experience to the company. His extensive knowledge of the planning system in the UK and Scotland in particular will provide us with “in house” expertise on planning matters for the benefit of our clients.”

Des is based in Cupar, where he has lived since 1969. He can be contacted through the Cupar Office of CKD Galbraith on 01334 659980.
