Media Release: Father’s Day in Lanarkshire

There are many sights to see at the Hamilton Classic Car Show, this Father's Day 16 June

WITH Euro 2012 kicked off and the Olympics on the horizon, Father’s Day comes at the best time of year, with a treasure trove of activities happening in Lanarkshire sure to appeal to all dads – from the car enthusiast to the family man or even the history buff.

Dads will love Hamilton Town Centre’s Classic Car Show on Saturday 16th June.

Some of the nation’s best-loved and most iconic old cars will be displayed, with classic vehicles expected from both car clubs and private collectors.

Now in its third year, this popular family event will also feature street theatre, balloon entertainers, treasure hunts, family entertainment and a ‘best car competition’.

From aviation to local folk music, there’s something for everyone at the Scottish Flying Club’s Folk Festival Fly-In and Hangar Dance at Strathaven Airfield on Saturday 16th June.

Between 2pm and 5pm, a range of microlights and other sport aircraft, model aeroplanes and hovercraft will be on display. Later in the evening from 7.30pm till 11.30pm there will be a charity Hangar Dance, with live music from local bands.

This family event has been organised between The Scottish Flying Club and local community groups with profits from a £5 entrance fee going to support local groups and charities.

Dads can have fun with the family at the Family Man Fun Day at Hamilton Park Racecourse on Sunday 17th June. Packed full of activities and entertainment, from 12pm until 4pm, families can experience everything from fly fishing with Avon Anglers to martial arts demonstrations.

Kids can get on board an old fire engine or old-fashioned double-decker bus, while tots and toddlers can take part in Sing and Sign, baby massage or baby yoga.
