Media Release: Getting to grips with workplace law

WITH the Government embarking upon a programme of fundamental changes to employment rights, Glasgow-based fixed fee consultancy, Law At Work, is inviting HR directors and business owners in the city to attend a free strategy workshop on Friday the 17th of August to ensure they are up to speed.

The free 90-minute workshop will explore both recent legal changes and the further proposals for change and assist businesses to plan their people management strategy.

The workshop will examine the Government’s belief that these changes will ‘rebalance’ the emphasis of employment law in favour of employers.

It will assess the impact that this is likely to have on day-to-day practices in Glasgow’s workplaces.

The seminar will also tackle the proposed introduction of ‘protected conversations’ and the extent to which this will allow employers to tackle under-performance in the workplace without the fear of being sued.

Finally, attendees will learn more about the impact of far reaching changes in tribunal procedures on businesses seeking to successfully defend claims.

An interactive event, participants are encouraged to put questions to LAW’s specialist legal services team and voice opinions on the impact such changes in legislation will have on individual business and management practices.

Donald Mackinnon, director of Legal Services at Law At Work, said:

“The employment law landscape is continuously changing, and with the Government pulling in separate directions, it can be increasingly difficult for business leaders to keep on top of their responsibilities and ensure they are ahead of the game.

“This event will help Glasgow’s business figures make sense of what the Government is proposing and enable them to look at it in relation to their own businesses.

“We will be keen to hear from delegates what they consider to be their priorities, in the light of the impending changes.

“Spaces at the free event are limited and we would encourage all those who are interested to visit the website and reserve their space.”

The workshop will be held from 9.30am at 1 George Square and will also give attending organisations a chance to network with other attendees over light refreshments.
