Media Release: Musician helps launch spirituality festival

Rich Batsford

FORMER stand-up comedian-turned-composer, Rich Batsford, helps launch the annual Edinburgh Festival of Spirituality and Peace with two special live performances this week.

To celebrate the release of his second album, pianist Rich Batsford stages two exclusive Fringe performances.

Mindfulmess is an engaging concert of meditative solo piano music and beautifully crafted songs.

Mindfulmess is also the title of Rich’s second album and follows the critically acclaimed debut, Valentine Court (“A reflective, intelligent record” – Music Week).

Rich Batsford is establishing himself as one of the most exciting pianist composers in the UK and these two captivating performances, which also form part of the Edinburgh  Festival of Spirituality and Peace, will showcase the talents of this extraordinary breakthrough artist.

Rich’s live shows include performances of original, contemporary classical piano music, alongside reflective songs and even the occasional Brian Wilson cover.

Mindulfmess will explore how to live a spiritually fulfilling life in a modern, rational world.

Rich Batsford’s emotive piano music is an enchanting blend of minimalism and melody, recalling composers such as Ludovico Einaudi, Claude Debussy and Philip Glass.

His songs combine beguiling melody with ethereal vocals, thoughtful, sensitive lyrics and a seductive piano accompaniment.

Rich Batsford said: “The lyrics from my new album are drawn from a lifetime’s attempt to make sense of reality and live accordingly, with frequently mixed results!

“With my Edinburgh Fringe show I’ll be featuring several of these songs, some with quite painfully honest disclosures and others with a more inspiring, uplifting feel.

?Also in the mix are some highlights from my solo piano album which really help create a mood, drawing the listener in and offering up some quiet and reflective space before leading up to a big finish with one of my more epic pieces.”

“Utterly spellbinding” (Birmingham Post)

“His music displays amazing beauty” (Birmingham Mail)
