COMEDY stars of the Edinburgh Fringe – including Josie Long and Perrier Award-winning David O’Doherty – helped raise £1,200 for housing and homelessness charity, Shelter Scotland, with an one-off gig.
The charity’s LOLfest event drew a sell-out crowd at Edinburgh’s Summerhall, with a surprise performance on the night by The Pictish Trail and crowd-favourite, Gordon McIntyre, of ballboy.
Graeme Brown, director of Shelter Scotland, said:
“Increasing numbers of households facing daily problems with housing and homelessness is no laughing matter. This comedy event, however, was the perfect antidote.
“The £1,200 raised will go a long way. It’s enough to help 120 families and individuals calling our national helpline.
“We’re grateful to everyone who made this year’s LOLfest a resounding success, from the performers who gave up their time, to Summerhall who kindly let us use the venue for free and of course comedy fans who came out in full support on the night.”
Comedian, Josie Long, said:
“This was a fantastic show for a great cause and I was over the moon to be asked to perform. Shelter Scotland’s work makes a real difference to the lives of families experiencing housing and homelessness issues and I was pleased to be able to do my bit.”
