Media Release: Keenan Recycling director appointed to Enterprise board

Grant Keenan

THE director of a North-east organics recycling firm has joined the board of Enterprise North East Trust (Enterprise).

Grant Keenan, managing director of Keenan Recycling, has been formally appointed as a non-executive director of Enterprise, which offers a range of services for new and growing businesses across the North-east, including the delivery of the Business Gateway services on behalf of Aberdeen City and Shire Councils.

Mr Keenan’s firm transforms food and garden waste into compost at a £5million facility near New Deer in Aberdeenshire.

The award-winning site deals with tens of thousands of tonnes of food and green waste from local authorities all over Scotland and also offers a recycling service to businesses and food processors with green targets.

In addition to his business acumen, Mr Keenan’s main focus for Enterprise will be to provide advice and guidance to the board on all environmental issues affecting Scotland and the North-east.

He said: “I was very honoured to be invited to join the board of Enterprise North East Trust as the organisation is key to business growth throughout the area.

“Enterprise has offered support to our business as we have grown over the years and I hope this role will allow me to give something back to the business community.

“It’s great to support new businesses in the area to thrive and succeed and I’m very much looking forward to being a part of the Enterprise board.”

Gary McEwan, chief executive of Enterprise, added: “Grant will be an integral part of the Enterprise board moving forward and his knowledge and expertise of Scottish business and key environmental issues will undoubtedly prove invaluable.

“We have focussed in recent years to strengthen the board and Grant will be an excellent addition to the team.”

The independent board, which meets every second month, is chaired by Steve Cook, managing director of Empire, with Mike Brown of Anderson Anderson Brown as vice-chair.

Other board members include Stuart Oag, finance director of Stewart Milne Homes, Graeme Nisbet from Space Solutions, and Cllr Ian Mollison of Aberdeenshire Council.

Enterprise North East Trust offers a range of services for new and growing businesses across the North-east, including the delivery of the Business Gateway services on behalf of Aberdeenshire Council.

In addition to providing help and advice to companies, Enterprise also operates 16 serviced office centres across the North-east.
