Media Release: Harper Macleod – headline sponsor of Energy North

HARPER Macleod LLP, one of Scotland’s largest law firms, continues its support of the energy industry by becoming headline sponsor of the Energy North Awards.

The awards recognise and celebrate the efforts and achievements of those operating in the energy sector throughout the North of Scotland and the Islands.

As a long-established law firm with a permanent base in the Highlands, Harper Macleod is a natural partner for these awards, which take place on 12th October in Inverness.

Harper Macleod is one of the most active Scottish law firms in the energy sector and works with developers, landowners, community groups, all elements of the supply chain and operators of various sizes, including SSE Renewables, EON, Fred Olsen Renewables, Forestry Commission Scotland and Temporis.

Harper Macleod’s contribution to the industry also includes holding the annual Scottish Highland Renewable Energy Conference (SHREC) each year, with bookings now being taken for the next event on the 18th April 2013.

David Bone, head of Energy & Natural Resources at Harper Macleod, said: “We are delighted to be sponsoring the Energy North Awards and be able to pay tribute to all the hard work and desire to make the North of Scotland a key part of all our energy futures.

“2012 has already been a great year for the energy industry and as part of the judging panel I know that it won’t be an easy task selecting the shortlists for these worthwhile awards.”

Ian Couper, chief executive for Energy North, said: “As one of the leading law firms in the North energy industry we are very pleased to announce Harper Macleod as headline sponsors of the 2012 Energy North awards.

“The awards provide an excellent platform to promote and celebrate the achievements of the sector as it continues to grow in scale and reputation, both nationally and internationally.

“October’s awards ceremony is set to grow following last year’s inaugural event. We are expecting an audience of more than 200 people from industry, academia, the public sector and politics, making it one of energy’s best networking opportunities in the region.”
