Media Relese: Fintry farming family to supply Waitrose with luxury yoghurt

Knockraich Farm

A MOTHER and daughter team from Knockraich Farm in Fintry has secured a deal to supply Waitrose with their artisan yoghurts.

A selection of Katy Rodger’s award-winning, handmade dairy products will be on sale at all four Waitrose branches in Scotland from 10 September – and will have a place on the shelves of the new Stirling branch when it opens in early 2013.

Katy and her daughters, Helena and Catherine, have been making yoghurts since 2009 on the family’s farm.

The farm’s closed herd of 60 British Freisian cows were all born on the farm and provide the milk, which is then churned in the family’s custom-built creamery.

The family’s yoghurts have attracted praise from the food industry, picking up Product of the Year and the Retail Dairy Award at the 2012 Food and Drink Excellence Awards, as well as 12 Gold Stars from the 2012 Great Taste Awards.

Katy commented: “Waitrose is the first supermarket we’ve ever supplied, so this is a very exciting time for us.

“Waitrose liked that we’re small, home-made and independent, which makes me think that we’re a perfect match.”

Tracey Marshall, from Waitrose, commented: “These lovely yogurts are very much a family affair and I’m sure Waitrose shoppers will be pleased to see even more high-quality, Scottish suppliers on our shelves.

“The yoghurts contain only natural and high-quality ingredients and make a very versatile and healthy snack at any time of day.”

Waitrose continues to seek out new producers and suppliers across Scotland.

More than 400 Scottish lines are now available from household names such as Findlaters Pates, MacSween and Highland Game to small family-run businesses such as Henshelwoods Chutneys, Simple Simon Pies and Just Add Chilli.
