VISITSCOTLAND has promoted Amanda Henderson to the role of Meetings and Incentives marketing manager, UK and Europe, within its Business Tourism Unit.

The organisation has also appointed two new marketing executives at its Edinburgh HQ and a business tourism executive for the northern region.

Amanda, formerly Marketing Manager, Europe, is tasked with increasing meetings and incentive business to Scotland both from within the UK and around the world.

She retains responsibility for the Business Tourism Unit’s European marketing strategy, including account management of marketing and PR agencies in Germany, France and Spain, capitalising on her language skills and experience of the continental market.

She will work alongside Lindsay Brown, UK marketing manager – Business Tourism.

Amanda brings more than a decade of marketing and business tourism experience to her new role, having started her career at the Edinburgh International Conference Centre in 2001. She is known in the industry for her passion, creativity and strategy, with wide experience in selling Scotland to European market.

She said: “I’m really looking forward to getting my teeth into the UK market and there are bound to be synergies and lessons to be learnt from the way the industry operates in mainland Europe.

“I love working with the Business Tourism Unit and I’m delighted that this new role will enable me to build on my sales skills in the meetings and incentives sphere.”

The Business Tourism Unit has also welcomed two new marketing executives: Louisa Mungall and Danielle McKinlay. Louisa brings experience of the luxury market, most recently working in the marketing department of the prestigious Old Course Hotel Golf Resort & Spa while Danielle has valuable knowledge of the North American market having completed a one year professional work placement with VisitBritain based in New York City.

Meanwhile, Heather McNee has been appointed business tourism executive, working alongside Moira Unwin, business tourism manager North, to grow the meetings and incentives market to the northern region.

She joins the BTU from VisitScotland’s Northern Highland Information Centres in her home town of Inverness.

Her new role also involves marketing Scotland to the North of England, organising marketing opportunities such as Scotland on Tour, which takes venue representatives to meet agency buyers.
