METROPOLITAN celebrates its tenth birthday party on Saturday 29th September and, as part of the celebrations, its popular restaurant is running a three-course set menu with a glass of Laurent-Perrier Brut for £25.95 for the duration of this week.

The popular cocktail bar and restaurant in Merchant Square, at the heart of the Merchant City, opened its doors a decade ago and has gone on to win a string of accolades to consolidate its position towards the top of Glasgow’s nightlife ever since by proving a firm favourite with regular revellers, party-goers, punters and celebrities ever since.

This week Metropolitan’s special tenth birthday menu features starters of: seafood chowder or soup of the day; woodland mushroom cassoulet; ballottine of salmon, chicory and crayfish salad or home-smoked duck breast.

Main dishes featured are: fillet of monkfish; strudel of butternut squash and Cairnsmore cheese; breast of pheasant and prime cut Scottish 8oz sirloin steak.

The dessert menu comprises: coconut and lime panacotta; praline and honey parfait with stewed cherries and brandy snap; triple chocolate terrine and raspberry sorbet and a selection of cheeses.

Metropolitan’s tenth birthday party, from 6pm till 3am, brings Café Mambo Ibiza resident DJ, Pete Gooding, to Glasgow for a free party featuring everything from trapeze acts, burlesque dancers, fire breathers, flying ribbon dancers to live bongos, sax and funk and soul bands.

Notes to editors:

  • Located on Candleriggs at the heart of the Merchant City, Glasgow’s cultural, fashion and food quarter, Merchant Square offers an eclectic selection of restaurants and cafes.
  • Once part of the old Glasgow Fruit Market, Merchant Square is imbued with the history of the area’s dominating Victorian architecture, although today this sense of history blends seamlessly with the distinctly cosmopolitan ambiance that pervades the surrounding cobbled streets that bring the outside in.
