Media Release: NSDesign gets customer service nod

Social Media Training

THEY might be geeks but their outstanding customer service has put the team at NSDesign in line for another award.

The Hillington-based digital marketing company is nominated for the prestigious Renfrewshire Chamber of Commerce ‘ROCCO Award’ for ‘Excellence in Customer Service’.

It’s the latest in a long line of accolades for the eight-strong agency, founded in 1999 and led by managing director,  Gary Ennis, which specialises in web design and social media consultancy.

“We’re delighted to be shortlisted,” he said. “Winning this would mean a lot because although we’ve recently expanded and now deliver social media training throughout Scotland and other parts of the UK, the ROCCOS are voted for by our peers.

“Other local businesses make up the judging panel and being nominated proves that our clients right here in Renfrewshire like what we do and that’s very important to me.”

Winning won’t be easy. The other nominees include the mighty Glasgow Airport.

And according to Ennis, there’s one thing they all have in common.

“It’s really interesting how even in this digital world, with all the excitement around Facebook and Twitter, what people really value is good, old fashioned, honest customer service.

“I find that really encouraging and nothing annoys me more than a business that stop communicating when things go wrong. If you’re taking someone’s money, especially in this economic climate, you really do need to give them your absolute best.”

Recent projects for NSDesign include creating a state of the art new website for Linstone Housing Association which is about to go live, and a company wide social media training programme for one of Scotland’s biggest motor dealers.

Ennis continues: “It show lots of businesses how to use Facebook, Twitter and other digital tools to deliver better customer service but it’s important not to forget the traditional methods like the telephone, e-mail and face to face contact. Excellent customer service is delivered on the customer’s terms…not the businesses!

“And you really need to be everywhere they expect you to be. And if you’re not using social media properly with a strategy behind it, that can put a big strain on resources.”

The final quarter of 2012 looks like a busy one for the NSDesign team which is on track for record revenue growth and Ennis is looking forward to it.

“One of the big influences on my life was the time I spent managing a busy bar. I learnt so many essential business skills during my time there. Multi-tasking, the finances and of course customer service. I’d encourage any young person to spend some time working behind a bar. If you can survive that, running your own business is a breeze.”
