Media Release: Caffe Borsa opening introduces new leisure concept to Dundee

Caffe Borsa

THE official opening of Caffe Borsa today (07.11.12) introduces a new leisure concept into the heart of Dundee city centre.

A licensed coffee house introducing a broad range of emerging and established talent to the city as it doubles as a live music venue in the evenings, the £500,000 Caffe Borsa is located in the historic Dundee Royal Exchange building on Panmure Street.

The new leisure concept is the brainchild of property entrepreneurs John Gibson and Ross Morrison who, having identified a gap in Dundee’s leisure sector, drafted in leisure sector consultant, Gordon Richardson, to set about creating a new kind of outlet for people to meet, eat, drink and converse, for business or pleasure, with a live music offer in the evening.

Richardson said: “The idea behind Caffe Borsa is that it is a home from home; a genuine neighbourhood coffee house where the emphasis is on getting into a horizontal state of mind.

“Laidback and feel-good, Borsa is the perfect place to catch up with friends, family and colleagues to sit back and soak up some sounds while relaxing over a cold beer or espresso and a bite to eat.

“It’s all about the recipe – positive vibes, great food and drink, an outstanding soundtrack and seriously happening company – a unique blend of ingredients that combine to create the perfect personal daily bolt hole.”

Serving great coffee is at the core at Caffe Borsa.

But, in addition to a full range of gourmet and specialist coffees, hot chocolate, smoothies and milkshakes, the outlet is fully-licensed to sell cold beer and mighty fine wine.

In addition to the must-have coffee house classics, Caffe Borsa’s simple and tasty food offering extends to home-baked pastries, muffins, cakes and patisserie.

Customers will be invited to choose from a mouth-watering selection of grazing food that extends to: oven baked pizza; soups; salads; nachos; tapas and a wide range of delicious deli sandwiches – with healthy options for kids.

Caffe Borsa is committed to supporting the very best in established and emerging talent, with a series of live events scheduled over the coming months.

An integral part of Caffe Borsa has been significant investment in cutting edge digital technologies to enable it to offer customers free accessibility to wi-fi and full engagement with mobile devices and other digital platforms.

It is entirely fitting, therefore, that Caffe Borsa is hosting the V&A at Dundee Digital Mash, an informal event designed to kickstart V&A at Dundee Digital as part of NEoN Festival 2012 on Wednesday 7th November at 8pm.

V&A at Dundee Digital Mash seeks to capitalise on the wealth of experience gathering in the city for the festival and provide an opportunity to be part of a new international community aiming to deliver a world-leading digital/interactive experience for V&A at Dundee, the first ever design museum to be built in the UK outside of London.
