SCOTTISH Water has concluded the sale of its former Kittybrewster depot in Aberdeen to Grampian Police in a £1.7million deal.
Grampian Police plan to build a criminal justice centre on the 3.8 acre site in Great Northern Road. The facility will house up to 90 police officers and include 60 cells, interview and solicitor consultation rooms and medical facilities.
FG Burnett acted for Scottish Water in the transaction while Grampian Police Joint Board represented themselves.
FG Burnett managing director, Angus MacCuish, said: “The site was surplus to Scottish Water’s requirements and was suitable for a number of alternative uses.
“Its strategic position proved an ideal location for Grampian Police, which has identified a need for new custody facilities, additional office space and a base for the Kittybrewster local policing team.”
Archie MacGregor, Scottish Water’s estates manager, said: “The sale of the Kittybrewster depot was a key part of our strategy, with the proceeds reinvested to improve services to our customers.
“The professional manner in which the transaction has been executed is a great example of two public sector organisations working together to deliver best value to those using our services.”
