THE renamed Restaurant@Metropolitan continues its tenth birthday celebrations with the launch of a new menu featuring locally-sourced Scottish produce.

The popular restaurant in Merchant Square, at the heart of the Merchant City, opened its doors a decade ago and has gone on to win a string of accolades to consolidate its position at the top of Glasgow’s dining sector ever since.

Its new menu features starters of: chef’s soup of the day; coriander and ginger crab cakes; home smoked duck breast; breaded goats cheese, red onion and fig compote; roast breast of pigeon; ballotine of salmon, chicory and crayfish salad; game liver parfait; woodland mushroom cassoulet and a trio of haggis.

Its mains selection, meanwhile, includes: tronçon of monkfish, chicken breast stuffed with black pudding, king prawns, fillet of pork, breast of pheasant, strudel of butternut squash and Cairnsmore cheese, braised haunch of venison, west coast lemon sole with queen scallops and prime cuts of 21-day mature Scottish beef.

Desserts include: coconut and lime panna cotta, cherry bakewell cheesecake, sticky toffee pudding, a duo of chocolate terrine with raspberry sorbet, a selection of dairy ice creams and a selection of cheeses served with oatcakes and homemade chutney.

Notes to editors:

  • Located on Candleriggs at the heart of the Merchant City, Glasgow’s cultural, fashion and food quarter, Merchant Square offers an eclectic selection of restaurants and cafes.
  • Once part of the old Glasgow Fruit Market, Merchant Square is imbued with the history of the area’s dominating Victorian architecture, although today this sense of history blends seamlessly with the distinctly cosmopolitan ambiance that pervades the surrounding cobbled streets that bring the outside in.
