Media Release: Banchory’s ‘BBC2′ tunes in to Aberdeen office crisis

AN estimated chronic shortage of top-grade office premises in Aberdeen could benefit a newly-completed business centre in Banchory.

Banchory Business Centre 2 (BBC2) is targeting oil, gas and energy sector companies which have outgrown their current facilities and are struggling to find suitable city centre accommodation.

Located on the Hill of Banchory Business Park, BBC2 would suit medium to large sized businesses which need easy access to Aberdeen’s commercial centre and air, road and rail links.

News that the long-awaited AWPR bypass has been given the go-ahead makes Banchory an even more attractive proposition for expanding businesses.

The BBC2 pavilion offers 19,000 sq ft over three floors but for larger organisations requiring additional space there are other commercial sites available in the business park. Developed by North Banchory Company Limited (NBC), the business centre is being marketed by FG Burnett on an ‘entire building’ or floor-by-floor basis.

FG Burnett associate, Dan Smith, said: “It is no secret that Grade A office accommodation in Aberdeen is extremely scarce and with BBC2 we are offering a high-spec alternative which will meet the requirements of any progressive business.

“Many local and international companies are frustrated that expansion plans are being hampered by the limited office stock available and we believe BBC2 is an attractive proposition which goes a long way to addressing the market shortfall.”

The pavilion meets the highest energy efficiency standards while its minimising carbon footprint. Heating and hot water requirements are provided by the biomass energy centre serving the whole Hill of Banchory development, fuelled by local woodchips. Natural and mechanised ventilation minimises the overall electrical load, while a rainwater harvesting system reduces the building’s mains water consumption.

With highly rated local schools and excellent housing available in Banchory – a further 400 new homes of all sizes is in the pipeline – NBC believe the location will have strong appeal to employers and employees seeking a healthy work-life balance.

NBC property manager, Hazel Johnston-Cranna, added: “Banchory is a thriving commercial centre in its own right and we can offer a sustainable eco-friendly working environment, free from the stresses of city centre working.

“On the back of positive news about the AWPR and the increasing confidence within the energy sector in Aberdeen, BBC2 is a much-needed addition which brings a freshness to the north-east commercial property market in an established location.

“Companies opting for BBC2 will have the best of both worlds – Grade A business space with exceptional environmental standards, surrounded with ample green space and excellent leisure amenities on their doorstep.”
