THE Italian Bistro in Glasgow’s West End has raised £1,000 for a leading doctor’s daughter suffering from cancer, by hosting a special fundraising event.

Ayesha Siddiqui, the eight year-old daughter of Glasgow Royal Infirmary consultant, Dr Nadeem Siddiqui, was diagnosed with leukaemia in April 2011.

The search is now on for a bone marrow donor with a series of events raising funds for the Anthony Nolan charity, which is urgently looking to find Ayesha a match from the charity’s register of potential donors.

Italian Bistro proprietor, Nas Aksi, said: “When we learned of Ayesha’s plight, our staff and customers decided to host a special event in her honour to help raise awareness of her case and to encourage more people from ethnic minorities to join the bone marrow donor list.”
