Media Release: Last chance for your Will to make a difference

WITH only a few days remaining until the annual WillAid fundraising campaign comes to an end, Tayside solicitors firm, Miller Hendry, is urging members of the public to really make a difference with their Will.

The WillAid campaign runs every year during November, and participating solicitors waive their fees for drawing up a basic Will, instead inviting their clients to donate to the WillAid group of charities.

The money raised is shared by the nine WillAid charities and is used to transform the lives of people in the UK and around the world.

Having an up to date and professionally-written Will is the only way to put you in control of the final destination of your estate and to make sure you avoid difficulties for your relatives and friends after your death.

Ernie Boath, partner with Miller Hendry, commented: “By making a Will with WillAid you are protecting your loved ones’ future as well as helping to raise money to support the vital work of the WillAid charities.

“Far too many people in Scotland die without ever making a Will, not realising the substantial difficulties they could be creating for their family at a time when they should have time to grieve.

“It’s a very small price to pay for peace of mind, and the fact in November all of the money goes to such great causes is all the more reason to do it today.”

The WillAid charities are: ActionAid, Age UK, British Red Cross, Christian Aid, NSPCC, Save the Children, Sightsavers, SCIAF (Scotland) and Trocaire (N.Ireland). The suggested minimum donation is £90 for a single Will, £135 for a pair of Wills or £40 for a codicil to an existing Will.

In 2011, Miller Hendry raised over £9,500 for WillAid charities.
