Media Release: Trades Training School now offers ELCAS-funded plumbing and tiling courses for ex-forces personnel

Antony O'Neil, founder Edinburgh Trades Training School

TRADES Training School is now a registered ELCAS* provider delivering fully-funded plumbing and tiling courses for ex-service personnel.

ELCAS allows the people serving in the forces, or those that have left in the last ten years, to obtain funding for training at the School’s centre in Peffermill Industrial Estate (block 3, unit 2) in Edinburgh.

The Trades Training School offers a range of vocational courses in tiling and plumbing in realistic ‘wet’ environments.

The courses include business start up training and qualifications, plus specialist resettlement courses for ex-forces personnel, providing the skills and knowledge needed to start up as a tiler or plumber.

Antony O’Neil, director, says: “We are already a preferred supplier to the armed forces but being ELCAS approved means even ex-forces can now access our training. Coming from a forces background myself, I am delighted that we are one of the selected centres to gain approval and that we can offer an even wider range of courses.

“Our courses suit ex forces personnel as they have the right attitude and commitment needed to succeed in the construction industry. With a little bit of help from us and other organisations a very rewarding career awaits them.”

The School can assist with the application process, and offers former trainees on-going technical support in their chosen trade.

Darren left the Armed Forces and trained at the School.

He says: “What can I say about the training and constant support I have and still receive from all the staff? I have been successfully running my own business for a year and a half now and business is good, even if sometimes hard work.”
