Media Release: Diageo director to give presentation at Kelvinside Academy business breakfast

Colin

DIAGEO director, Colin Neill, will give the keynote speech at a Business Breakfast at Kelvinside Academy, his alma mater, as part of the school’s programme of engagement with local business, commercial and professional communities.

A leading Scottish independent school, situated in the West End of Glasgow, enterprise forms a central strand in Kelvinside Academy’s curriculum, leading it to launch its first business breakfast this autumn to provide networking and professional development opportunities for business people whilst benefiting pupils.

Kelvinside Academy rector, Robert Karling, said: “We’re delighted that Colin, an alumni with a formidable track record of success in business, will present an insight into the workings of the largest whisky producing plant at Diageo, the world’s leading drinks company and the name behind such global brands as Johnnie Walker, J&B, Bells and Smirnoff.

“As well as providing a tremendous networking and professional development opportunity for business people, it is our hope that our series of business breakfasts will prove to be of direct benefit to those pupils participating in the enterprise strand of our curriculum.”

Following his attendance at Kelvinside Academy, Neill proceeded to receive a BA degree in Business Studies from Glasgow Caledonian University and a post-graduate qualification in Sports Psychology from Newcastle University before forging a successful career in the whisky industry.

In addition to his role as supply chain director at Diageo, Neill is a director with Renfrewshire Chamber. He takes part in both the business mentoring and school mentoring programmes run by Scottish Enterprise.

Kelvinside Academy’s Business Breakfast featuring Colin Neill takes place in the Miller Drummond suite of the school’s Balgray Campus from 7.30am – 9am on Friday 1st February. Attendees will include parents and former pupils who have gone on to establish their own business enterprises.
