BRADFORDS Bakers, one of Glasgow’s best-known and oldest family firms, has launched its delicious range of pancakes and crumpets for Pancake Tuesday (12.02.13)
Bradfords’ Pancake Tuesday range includes packs of deliciously light pancakes and crumpets with jam as well as share boxes, comprising two crumpets with assorted fillings in a pre-packed tray. The share box fillings are: apple; fresh cream and strawberry and banoffee.
The range also includes: strawberry and fresh cream pancakes; toffee apple pancakes; fresh cream raspberry pancakes; apple and cinnamon pancakes and sultana crumpets.
Claire Bradford said: “All of our pancakes and crumpets are made in small batches and mixed by hand to ensure that customers enjoy the ‘baked at home’ flavour and texture. And our jams are all made at the bakery using traditional methods in open pans.”
Shrove Tuesday is now commonly known as Pancake Tuesday, ever since pancakes became the food of choice so that rich ingredients such as eggs, milk, and sugar could be used up before fasting begins at the start of Lent, the following day.
Bradfords Bakers’ Pancake Tuesday range is available from its branches in Giffnock, Pollokshaws, Eaglesham, Merrylee, Newton Mearns, Clarkston, Neilston, Clarence Drive, Sauchiehall Street, East Kilbride, Milngavie, Crow Road and Troon.
