Media Release: Marketing Society Scotland announce new ‘Green Marketing’ category in the 2013 Star Awards

MARKETING Society Scotland is widening its search for the nation’s leading marketing talent by introducing a new ‘Green Marketing’ category in this year’s Star Awards, which close to entries on 22 February.

Supported by the Scottish Government, the new category is a first for Scotland’s marketing industry and gives those behind some of Scotland’s most successful Green marketing campaigns a chance to shine.

Entries for the Green Marketing category are encouraged to show how they had a positive and long term impact on the environment by generating positive changes in green lifestyle behaviour and how this was achieved.

The country’s world class brands and marketers of all sizes – big or small – are being asked submit green marketing campaigns and initiatives that demonstrate true star quality and help showcase the best Scottish green marketing to the world.

Previous Star Award winners include The Leith Agency, The Union, Story, University of Edinburgh, Standard Life and VisitScotland.

As sponsor of the new ‘Green Marketing’ category, Clare Smith from the Scottish Government, said: “We’re already leading the way and setting the agenda for this new category with our own ‘Greener Together’ marketing campaign, which encourages everyone across Scotland to adopt more Green behaviours.

“We want to see other shining examples of excellence from marketing teams of all sizes across the country that really show just how vibrant and creative the Scottish marketing sector is, particularly those that encourage positive behaviour change.”

The Scottish Government is currently spearheading the Greener Together integrated marketing campaign to encourage everyone across Scotland to think about how and what they can do to make Scotland a cleaner, greener place to live now and in the future.

The campaign urges people to get involved by taking positive action and by visiting www.greenerscotland.org for more information and advice.

The awards are open to both members and non-members of The Marketing Society.
