TWO health and lifestyle conscious young women have teamed up to create an exotic business designed to cleanse the tired and toxic bodies of over-indulgent Scots with a raw food and yoga retreat in a tropical idyll in South America.

Susan Reynolds and Lorna Crawford, both in their late 20s, felt that their knowledge and skills as a yoga teacher and a vegan chef could be pulled together to make the ultimate getaway to promote healthier living.

Their Change Your Life retreat is aimed at anyone who wants to feel healthier and is seeking an alternative way to keep mind and body together.

Susan Reynolds, from Edinburgh, says: “This isn’t a hippy fad. We want to change people’s lives for the better.

“Too many 28 year-olds in Scotland think that clubbing, drinking and over-eating are the ways to relax. We’re the same age and we want to show another way. It’s about looking after your body, re-igniting your spirit for life and eating nutritious and beautiful low-fat raw food.

“We feel that a combination of deep relaxation, through our group yoga sessions, plus pure healthy living eating raw food in inspiring surroundings will be exhilarating for so many people who are looking to change their lives.”

Susan and Lorna are part of a growing international movement seeking to promote raw food as a natural way of life, with Lorna creating dishes that will surprise.

The raw food and yoga retreat is in Costa Rica from 23-30 March and includes accommodation in a pristine tropical location. Costa Rica, a tiny nation of 1.5 million, is one of the world’s most beautiful countries.

“All levels of yoga students are welcome. If you’ve never tried it before, that’s fine,” says Susan.

The Mysore and Ashtanga yoga session will be held on a beautiful yoga desk that overlooks a lush tropical valley and out to the Pacific Ocean.

Susan and Lorna are joined by Brian Calvi, a leading health coach.

Susan already runs her business in Edinburgh called Wee Yogi, at the Bristo School of Yoga in Edinburgh, while Lorna has a vegan food business called Ziggy’s, which undertakes outside catering and supplies farmers markets, festivals and health food stores.

“Most people are completely surprised by how delicious raw foods can be. When you eat a real chocolate pudding made from natural cocoa and vanilla pods, you’ll realise you’ve been cheated for many years by other chocolate,” she says.
